Buddhism appeals to me because of its non-judgemental teachings and philosophies. As a non-theistic religion, it does not advocate the worship of any particular god, instead positing that any individual can, through various practices, achieve enlightenment and become a buddha.
In an increasingly fast-paced and materialistic world driven by consumerism that is in turn fuelled by superficial desires, the soul craves escape from it all, and some sense of greater understanding. Buddhism has several answers to offer, as well as some peace to offer to the weary traveller passing through life.
This blog is a record of my readings and afterthoughts on the Buddhist doctrine. My main sources of reference are the book A Guide To Buddhism: A To Z by Bhante S. Dhammika, an assortment of free Buddhist texts and scriptures found at Buddhist temples and centres around Singapore, as well as various Buddhist-related websites which you can find listed under the "Links" section of this blog.
May we all find peace.
